It's Official!!!!! Tigist is our daughter!!! Forever and irrevocably ...the judge said so!

We had such an amazing day today.  We started the day early at court, and it went so quickly.  It was wonderful.  Then we visited our daughter at the orphanage.  Each day she warms to us more and more.  I am sure that there will be many tears on the day that she finally leaves with us, not only hers, but her nannies also.  She has been a real favorite child at the orphanage.  The nannies love her so much, and we can see why.  She is not only adorable, but so virtuous and smart!  One of the nannies told the children to pick up their toys and Tigist immediately went around the room and picked up every toy.  She even crawled under the cribs to find one stray toy.  We were amazed!!!  we also saw her sharing with a little boy named Samuel.  They are best friends we hope that we can find a way to stay in touch with that little boy and his adoptive family.

Yesterday when we left Tigist or T.G. As they call her said "chow".  Today when we left. She said "bye bye" ! And waved.  We were all amazed.

  3. Ok so now you can take this or leave it, but I do have some experience with a little one who took time warming up to people ( even family members who she saw regularly). I don't know if it is possible to bring items with you as you go visit and get to know your new little one. But can you take a ball and a bag/ purse to put the ball in? There is something about that age that they love these two things together and it is something very visual to play and interact with. She will associate the fun ball and play time with things she likes with you two!!! That helps the transition& when it's time to " put the toys away" at playtime she has a purse. Then you can bring it with you guys each time& might help with soothing and easing fears on the plane ride home. Because she will associate fun and safety with the items and slightly subconsciously you two. Worth a try maybe. I'm thinking that's going to be a bit traumatic and rough for everyone.
